Strategy[]

One option is to always pick the first item you know you haven't had already, this way the images of other items may stick in your mind less - depending on how quickly you encounter a new item it can also allow you to refresh your other picks as you go over them: "picked already, picked already"

If you are familiar with the items you can also name them - if you repeat the name of the item every time you choose it, you can say the name of items you are unsure of and ask yourself if it sounds familiar enough to be something you already picked recently.

There are a few aspects of the game that you can turn to your advantage:

We know that each beach always has the same items.[]

This means that once you have played the game a few times you start to gain familiarity with the items, maybe name them all.

If you know what to expect it can help you keep track - if it doesn't distract you from remembering things in general you can group items together:

On beach one there are 3 seashells, 3 crustaceans, 3 seaweeds, 2 bottles.

In the second beach there are groups of 3 each of glass bottles, rays, planks, plastic floats, starfish, crabs and jellyfish.

In the third beach there are lots of pairs - kelps, eel-grasses, ribbon weeds, spotted corals, sponge & double-sponge, fan-corals, etc.

The items you have already chosen remain on the screen[]

Every time you pick something it gets added to the collection of items you have to choose from. If you aren't 100% sure if you have already picked something you can check if it keeps appearing - generally this will mean you already picked it. This strategy will not work towards the end when the pool of unchosen items to show gets very small.

There is no time penalty if you take a long time to choose[]

This means that you can take your time once you've already got a lot of things on your screen, don't feel pressured to make quick decisions. It also leaves you a chance to take a quick breather in between beaches to clear your mind of items from the previous, helping you to not get confused with items that appear on consecutive beaches.
